The HTPA Board of Directors is proud to announce the designation
of Houston Habitat for Humanity
for the 2009 HTPA charitable gift.
Organized
by HTPA Board Chairwoman Lory Tauber
Don, approximately 40 HTPA member volunteers and friends
convened at Houston Habitat for Humanity and participated in a
"wall build" on June 25th. The experience was instructive
and personally rewarding for everyone involved.
Following
the June 25th "wall build", the Board investigated the
possibility of HTPA participating in an actual "homesite
build". What the board learned was this: there is an abundance
of volunteer labor at Houston Habitat; however, there is not
an abundance of money.
Habitat
for Humanity relies on the kindness of strangers. All funding
comes from corporate and individual donations. The cost to build
a new Habitat Home is below market, but substantial none the less.
If you're considering a charitable contribution, consider Houston
Habitat for Humanity. You'll help a family in need, and feel good
about it.
