Scholarship applicants shall forward by regular mail service a completed 3-page HTPA Scholarship Application with a certified copy of applicant's most recent transcript attached to the address indicated on the application. Copies of transcripts or Internet copies of transcripts are not acceptable.

Application Deadline:  April 30th

Without exception, all applications and transcripts must be postmarked no later than April 30th.

Applications Subject to Verification

By applying, applicants specifically authorize the HTPA Scholarship Committee to verify all of the data provided on scholarship applications.

Applicants shall submit simultaneously with their applications and transcripts a thoughtfully prepared essay, the topic of which is as follows:

Applicants are expected to submit their essays in Microsoft Word.

Essays should be no more than 500 words, and should be double spaced and checked for correct grammar and punctuation.

Applicants failing to fulfill the essay requirement or submitting an essay past the application submission deadline of April 30th will be disqualified.

HTPA scholarships are awarded on an annual basis.  Funding is made available only for the scholastic year beginning no later that the fall semester following the award.

The total amount of scholarship funds for distribution will be determined by the Board of Directors.  At least two (2) scholarships will be awarded to applicants pursuing a transportation related degree.

Qualified students are eligible to compete for HTPA scholarships for a maximum of four (4) years.

Scholarship candidates must apply each year in which that student is seeking to compete for a scholarship.

Qualified HTPA members wishing to apply for scholarships for themselves, or wishing to sponsor a scholarship applicant, must meet the following requirements:

HTPA member-applicants (HTPA members applying for scholarships) must be qualified as a member in good standing for two (2) of the previous three (3) years.

A member shall be considered to be in good standing when the member pays annual membership dues in a timely manner and the member attends a minimum of four (4) HTPA functions consisting of at least three (3) business meetings and one (1) alternate function (golf tournament or charity event) during the calendar year.

HTPA member-sponsors must be qualified as a member in good standing for two (2) of the previous three (3) years.

The qualifications of a member-applicant or a member-sponsor will be determined by review of the Association's meeting attendance log and the treasurer's log.

A sponsoring member can sponsor no more than two (2) applicants, including themselves.

Members of the Scholarship Committee are ineligible to apply for scholarships. Additionally, members of the Scholarship Committee are ineligible to sponsor scholarship candidates.

The Board of Directors and Scholarship Committee shall hold all scholarship application information confidential.
